Want a Home-Based Business? Want to Learn How to Grow it? Here’s What To Do.
If you already have a home-based business or you’re looking to start one and you want to learn how to grow it, whether online or offline, keep reading. I'm going to give you 3 tips to make that happen.
The Attraction Marketing Virtual Summit has been underway all week, and I've had the privilege of learning from some of the most successful leaders in the the home business industry and Network Marketing profession.
Yesterday I watched an interview with Doug Firebaugh. If you've never heard of him, let me tell you a little bit about him. Doug is a veteran in network marketing with over 30 years experience. He built a home business organization that spanned 8 countries and produced hundreds of millions in sales. He's a pioneer in using social media for home business growth and in 2006 he was the very first in the Home Business Profession to author and offer generic social media training exclusively for network marketers.
In short, he's quite qualified to give expert advice, and these are the Three Tips he shared during a portion of his interview:
1. Get MAD
No, I don't mean angry...although being a little ticked at your current situation probably won't hurt...
MAD is an acronym for Make A Decision.
Now, I've got to tell you, Doug Firebaugh is quite the passionate guy. It must be the preacher in him! He's all fiery (true to his name) and full of conviction.
Earlier in the interview, he spoke about the difference between Choice and Decision. Choice, he explains, comes from the mind, whereas a decision is something that has emotion attached to it. It comes from the heart.
"Choice comes from the mind, but a decision comes from the heart; it's emotionally charged." ~ Doug Firebaugh
Here's an example of the difference. When you go to a restaurant and look over the menu, you will make a choice between the chicken and the steak. "Hmm, let's see...I think I'll have the steak." Not a whole lot of emotion and conviction there. Now, if you're a homeowner, when you decided to buy your home, did you get excited thinking about how this was the place where your family was going to grow and make memories together? A decision is emotionally charged.
So get emotional and make that decision! Decide that you are going to start your own business. Think about your reasons for doing it--find your why, and then solidly plant your feet. If you already have a home-business but you've been stalled, make that decision to move forward. If you haven't started in business yet and you're interested in joining me, connect with me, and let's see if there's a fit!
The "What" and the "How" will never make you wealthy. Success is 80% Emotional. ~ Doug Firebaugh
2. Get Educated
The most successful people tend to have one thing in common. They read. A lot. They're always learning.
Warren Buffet reportedly spends 5-6 hours a day reading. Bill Gates has attested to reading about 50 books per year. In the home business and network marketing profession, every single successful entrepreneur credits their success in some capacity to reading.
Reading is how you will learn new skills, do self-improvement and build a foundation of knowledge that will give you the confidence to overcome every obstacle and objection you encounter.

Here are some suggestions to get you started:
3. Get Serving
The best leaders are servant-leaders. They serve others. Don't be all about the what's-in-it-for-me. As Doug stated, "You were not created to make money. Be a servant." Put the needs of others first. In business, this means inspiring and developing your team and solving your customer's problems. If you want to achieve your goals, help others achieve theirs.
